Topeka is filled with creepy and spooky fun this month.

The capital city offers numerous places to see Halloween decorations, including a mock cemetery guarded by towering skeletons in the front yard at 2741 SE Croco Road.

A small sign at the front of the house reads “ATTENTION: WE ARE BATTY.”

Nearby, decorations featuring pumpkins and ghosts adorn homes at 2235 SE Croco Road and 3544 SE 24th.

And to the north, at 730 SE Croco Road, the goose on the front lawn is wearing a pumpkin outfit.

Pumpkins and Potwin

One of the best places to find Topeka homes decorated for Halloween is in the city’s historic Potwin community, where you can see a skeleton emerging from the ground in front of the home at 227 SW Woodlawn Ave.

Other houses in the area are adorned with decorations that include tombstones, hanging skeletons, a large spider on the roof of one house and a large spider web that winds its way up another.

Nearby, figures representing Halloween characters are found in community roundabouts.

West of Potwin, three skeletons can be seen resting on the front porch at 222 SW Clay, which also includes pumpkins and a black sign, showing a crow and saying “Beware.”

A block north, haunted figures and spooky decor fill a mock cemetery at 120 SW Clay.

‘Reedy Set Glow’

There is an alarming amount of road construction going on in the area of Shane and Bryn Reedy’s home at 2838 SE Minnesota, but the couple is continuing their 2018 practice of putting on a show of free light every evening from the beginning of October. until Christmas Minnesota is three blocks west of SE California Avenue.

The house lights are synchronized to Halloween music, which viewers can hear by tuning to 89.1 on the FM dial.

The Reedys maintain a Facebook page, titled “Reedy Set Glow.”

The light and music show focuses on Halloween in October, takes on a “pre-Christmas” theme in November, and then focuses on Christmas starting the day after Thanksgiving.
