Prosecutors in Sean “Diddy” CombsThe ongoing lawsuit has denied intentionally leaking footage of the disgraced rapper physically assaulting his now-ex. cassia in 2016.

In court documents filed Wednesday, Oct. 30, and obtained by We weekly, prosecutors opposed Diddy’s requests for a gag order related to the video.

“The Court should deny the Motion to Leak for the simple reason that Defendant fails to show the leak of any grand jury material,” court documents state. “Without any factual basis, the Leak Motion seeks to suppress highly probative evidence — a video of Combs brutally physically assaulting a victim in March 2016, which was published by a media outlet in May 2024 — claiming it was material grand jury leaked by the government. agents at CNN.”

The motion adds: “But, as the defendant is fully aware, the video was not in the Government’s possession at the time of publication by CNN, and the Government never obtained the video through the grand jury process.”

CNN’s recently unearthed footage of Sean “Diddy” Combs assaulting now-ex Cassie may be a key part of prosecutors’ evidence. “It was our team, we broke the video of Cassie being horribly and violently abused, which came up a lot during the court proceedings last week when he was charged,” the journalist (…)

Diddy’s trial is scheduled to begin in 2025, with his lawyers trying to keep the CNN footage out of court.

“The defendant is grasping at straws. Because defendant cannot show that the information in the subpoenaed articles is material to the grand jury, and because he cannot show that government agents with access to the grand jury material leaked the information, he cannot make the prima facie showing necessary for the relief he seeks.” prosecutors add in court filings, denying leaking other sensitive material to other news outlets. “Furthermore, even if any of the information in the cited articles could be considered improperly disclosed non-public information, defendant’s request for relief under Local Penal Rule 23.1 is moot by this court’s order entered on October 25, 2024.”

In the filings, the attorneys also expressed “serious concerns” about the alleged victims and witnesses of Diddy’s trial.

“Here, as detailed in the indictment and at bail hearings, the defendant has a significant history of violence and obstruction,” the filing states. “Indeed, Judge Carter found by clear and convincing evidence at the conclusion of the second hearing that the defendant “is a danger in obstruction of justice and witness tampering” and “poses a danger to the safety of others in the community at large.” Because of the defendant’s history, the Government has serious concerns about the safety of the victims and the possibility of witness tampering if the defendant were provided with a list of the names of the victims.”

CNN obtained and published a video in May, it showed Diddy, now 54, grabbing Cassie, now 37, by the neck, repeatedly pushing, dragging and punching her while staying at a hotel in Los Angeles. The images were time stamped in 2016.

In a few hours, Diddy issued an apology for his actions without directly mentioning Cassie (full name Casandra Ventura).

“It’s difficult to reflect on the darkest times in your life, sometimes you have to,” he said in an Instagram video. “I was mad. I mean, I screwed up, but I’m not apologizing. My behavior on that video is inexcusable. I take full responsibility for my actions in that video. I am disgusted.”

Diddy added: “I went and got professional help. I went to therapy, I went to rehab. He had to ask God for his mercy and grace. I’m so sorry, but I’m committed to being a better person every day. I’m not asking for forgiveness. I am truly sorry.”

Diddy and Cassie dated and disabled between 2007 and 2018. Five years later, Cassie sued the music mogul in November 2023 for sexual assault and physical abuse that she claims took place over a 10-year period. Diddy has vehemently denied all the allegations against him and Cassie settled the lawsuit one day.

Diddy was indicted by a grand jury in September shortly before being arrested and accused with sex trafficking, racketeering, conspiracy and transportation to engage in prostitution. A 14-page indictment, which also cited CNN video of Diddy and Cassie, alleged that the rapper “abused, threatened and coerced women and others around him” for decades.

Sean “Diddy” Combs claims the Department of Homeland Security leaked video of him allegedly assaulting his ex Cassie in 2016 in hopes of “undermining” the rapper’s “right” to a fair trial. Diddy, 54, made the allegation in a new motion for an evidentiary hearing as he awaits trial on sex trafficking charges (…)

Diddy pleaded not guilty to the charges before a judge denied him bail in three separate attempts. He was remanded to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn pending trial.

“We are disappointed in the decision to pursue what we believe to be an unfair prosecution of Mr. Combs by the US Attorney’s office,” Diddy’s attorney. Mark Agnifilo said We weekly in a statement earlier this month. “Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist who has spent the past 30 years building an empire, doting on his children and working to elevate the Black community. He’s an imperfect person, but he’s not a criminal.”
