Step up drive against food adulteration, officials said

Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal said on Monday that the district administration was committed to check the sale of adulterated food in the district and ensure safe food products for the people.

He headed the food safety wing of the Health Department to closely monitor the quality of milk products and other edible products brought to the markets for sale.

The focus of the campaign was on the quality of sweets, milk, cheese, khoya, bakery products and other items, which are sold in large quantities, especially during the festive season.

The DC emphasized on maintaining vigilance on the quality of food items such as mawa and paneer that are brought into the city or sent outside, especially during the festival season. He also warned of stern action against those who adulterate food and urged manufacturers, milk sellers and their employees to practice hygiene while preparing the products.

Jorwal sought the cooperation of food business operators to comply with the state government’s guidelines to ensure

safe and healthy products for people.
