‘It doesn’t represent reality’: Insider reveals the truth behind Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek’s viral moment at Paris Fashion Week

The apparent clash between Nicole Kidman and Salma Hayek is not what it seems, according to a source close to the couple.

The tense moment took place during Balenciaga’s summer 2025 show on September 30, where Kidman, 57, posed for photos with Hayek, 58, and pop star Katy Perry.

Kidman, who has long been associated with the Parisian luxury brand and was named its official ambassador in December 2023, was later seated front row alongside Hayek’s husband, French billionaire François-Henri Pinault.

Pinault’s company, Kering, owns Balenciaga, Gucci and Saint Laurent, among others.

After the show, a clip went viral of Hayek trying to get Kidman to confront a group of photographers.

In the footage, Kidman appears to push Hayek’s hand away before exiting the shot.

Although the exchange appeared tense, a person close to the stars told DailyMail.com that there is “no problem” between them.

“This is a fragment of a video that does not represent reality. There is a photo of them posing together. Nothing happened,” the source clarified.

According to the source, the two were “talking about something about tips and having a pow-wow, while being bombarded and yelled at and surrounded from every angle by cameras. They just wanted to go.”

The insider further emphasized that Kidman and Hayek “are friends and are fine despite what anyone else thinks.”

UK forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman also backed up that account, telling Page Six that the interaction was much smoother than it appeared.

Hayek reportedly told Kidman, “Let’s go back there, okay, here,” while Kidman calmly replied, “Hey, I’m fine, I’m fine. There, that’s enough, that’s fine.”

According to Freeman, Hayek interjected with “we have to…” before redirecting his attention to Perry, gently telling Kidman, “It’s okay, it’s okay.”

The ‘Frida’ star guided Perry towards the photographers.

While many fans called the interaction “tense,” others thought it was probably just a tense moment between friends at a high-profile event.

One fan defended Kidman, whose mother Janelle died in early September.

“Nicole is being nice and probably doesn’t want to go out, given that she’s grieving. Why would she be herself if she just lost her family?” the user wrote to X.

Another appeared to stand by Hayek: “Salma didn’t seem rude at all. Look at Nicole Kidman with the pointed finger – looks like she was coming back for a showdown.”

Despite the brief awkwardness, it seems the couple quickly moved on.

Hayek later posted several photos from the event, including one with Kidman, captioning it: “Finally last night, the grand finale of my Paris Fashion Week 2025… Balenciaga and Demna for a show fantastic”.

An X user who shared the viral clip also pointed out that Kidman and Hayek posed together afterwards, writing: “Guys, they took a picture together, after Nicole leaves, part of this video is cut , so all is well here.”
