Portland police investigate late-night shooting, gas leak on Eleanor Street

PORTLAND – Police responded to reports of shots fired at a residential duplex Sunday night, discovering multiple bullet holes and a ruptured gas line.

At 10:54 p.m. on October 13, officers arrived at 12 Eleanor Street after receiving calls about shots fired in the area.

They found the front of the property damaged by gunshots, and a strong smell of gas indicated a gas line had been hit.

The Portland Fire Department quickly secured the scene, shutting off the gas to prevent further risk.

The utility company Unitil was alerted to fix the damage to its infrastructure.

While the investigation continues, Portland police are asking for the public’s help.
