Picking berries in the summer is a great way to connect with nature and have some fun in the sun – plus, at the end of it all, you can come home with a bucket full of freshly picked berries! Whether you’re like me and love baking with berries (or eating a handful of them – that’s also valid) or you’re just looking for a great summer activity to do with your whole family, you’ll want to head to Bennett Orchards. The largest own blueberry farm in Delaware.

Bennett Orchards is located in Frankford, Delaware. The Bennett family farmed the land for an impressive six generations, starting in 1867. The farm, which once focused on grain and poultry, today primarily produces peaches and blueberries.

With five varieties of blueberries and 7,000 plants, Bennett Orchards is the largest own blueberry farm in Delaware. Every summer, thousands of people come here to pick blueberries (and peaches)!

When you arrive, you will be given a Bennett Orchards bucket to pick your blueberries. It doesn’t take long to fill her to the brim!

Picking assistants will be there to direct you to the ripest, most abundant blueberries, and wagons will be provided. Blueberries are priced per pound, with a four-pound minimum.

The blueberry picking season at Bennett Orchards generally begins in early to mid-June and runs through mid-to-late July, lasting approximately 4-6 weeks. You can find out which different varieties of blueberries are available at which points in the harvest season. Bennett Orchards website.

And of course, blueberries aren’t the only produce Bennett Orchards is known to produce. Bennett Orchards also grows 16 different varieties of yellow peaches, a variety of nectarines, and a variety of white peaches.

Pick-your-own peach season begins in early July and ends in late August. Wandering through lush orchards and picking delicious peaches is a great way to spend a summer day.
