Amid Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Scandal, Where Are His ‘Making the Band’ Bands?

Reality TV fame doesn’t always translate to success in the music industry, like many winners American Idol and victors of The Voice can testify Like those other TV star searches, Making the Band had mixed results when its last installment aired 15 years ago.

When it debuted, Making the Band it seemed like an opportunity of a lifetime for aspiring musicians: a chance to launch a career under the tutelage of high-profile veterans. In the ABC Making the Bandthat mentor was boy band producer Lou Pearlman. In the continuation of the MTV series, Sean “Diddy” Combs coached the hopefuls.

In a distressing epilogue to Making the Bandboth Pearlman and Combs are now the subject of scandals. Pearlman, who died in 2016, was convicted of money laundering in 2007; Combs is currently facing charges of sex trafficking, extortion and transportation for prostitution. (He has pleaded not guilty.)
