Record-breaking Caleb Williams reveals four secret ingredients to first 25 in Bears’ big win over Jaguars

Caleb Williams won the No. 1 general election battle in a landslide victory over Trevor Lawrence in London.

The Chicago Bears quarterback put on a show in a breakout performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, throwing for 226 yards and four touchdowns in a 36-16 win over Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Williams became the first Bears rookie QB to throw at least three touchdown passes since Cade McNown in 1999.

In her post-match press conference, Williams, 22, revealed the four secret ingredients to her record-breaking performance.

“Offensive line, coaching, leadership in the team, mentality of progress and moving on,” Williams told a room full of reporters, including talkSPORT.

“Us going out there and getting our momentum, executing and believing in each other is what you take credit for.”

In just six games, Williams has thrown nine touchdowns, moving into second place on the Bears’ TD list, tying Jim McMahon and Kyle Orton, who each threw nine touchdowns in eight and 15 games, respectively.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Williams, who cut a frustrated figure early in the game after overseeing a three-and-out.

The Jags led 3-0 after the first quarter, but after that it was all Williams and Chicago.

Williams came out in the second quarter as a different player. The freshman star got the Bears back in the game after faking a screen pass to running back DAndre Swift before throwing the ball to tight end Cole Kmet for a 31-yard TD — Kmet’s first of the afternoon.

The rookie Williams still showed his vulnerabilities, however, throwing a poorly telegraphed pass to DJ Moore with 5:10 left in the second quarter that was picked off by Andre Cisco.

Williams’ deep ball has improved a lot in recent weeks, but this attempt didn’t have enough juice and was an easy interception for the Jags safety.

Williams had previously attempted 81 passes without a pick.

Fortunately, the Bears D saved it with a quick three-and-out on the next drive.

Williams started to get his wheels rolling and his running game opened up Chicago’s offense.

A fired-up Williams orchestrated the next drive, which included a big 21-yard run to put the Bears at the 2-yard line.

He then hit Kmet for a second touchdown of the afternoon for the tight end as his Mahomes-Kelce connection began to pay off.

Williams went 12-of-15 for 128 yards and two touchdowns at halftime. He had one bad interception, but also ran for 56 yards on four carries as the Bears held a 14-3 lead.

The former USC quarterback continued to control the game in the third quarter with his pinpoint accuracy and dazzlingly quick feet.

On third-and-goal from the 9-yard line, Williams threw a pass up the middle to Keenan Allen, who caught his first touchdown as a Bear, and Williams’ third of the afternoon.

Williams continued his career performance with his fourth TD of the afternoon, a fade into the back corner of the end zone that Keenan Allen caught for his second score of the game.

The Bears are now riding a nine-game winning streak at home and move to 4-2 on the season heading into the bye week.

Doug Pederson and the Jags, meanwhile, continue to feel the heat.

They move to 1-5 for the season with a game against the New England Patriots at Wembley on the horizon.
