LGBTQ+ Identity and Screening Latino Film Festival: “Don’t Call Me Son” 11/7

The Department of World Languages ​​and Cultures is pleased to invite you to our Latino Film Festival on LGBTQ+ Identity and Experiences, hosted at the Luna Theater in Fall 2024. This festival features films that explore diverse narratives within the Latino LGBTQ+ community. The next screening is “Don’t Call Me Son”, a film by Anna Muylaert, on November 7.

Don’t Call Me Son (Mãe Só Há Uma) (2016) tells the story of a young man who is stunned to discover that he was kidnapped as a child by the woman he called his mother all his life. Now he is left to deal with the consequences of her actions and finally meet his biological family. This Brazilian drama is a scathing critique of the complacency and materialism of the upper middle class.

Presented in Portuguese with English subtitles.

Where: Luna Theater, Mill 5, 250 Jackson St, Lowell.

Admission is free and open to the entire community. However, places are limited so first come, first served. Arrive early to secure your spot.
