Princess Kate’s simple green smoothie ‘looks like pond water’ | Royal | news

The Princess of Wales has reportedly been drinking a “royalty-approved” green smoothie packed with vitamins and nutrients every morning with her breakfast, and her favorite healthy drink contains six simple ingredients.

Health experts have spilled the beans (and kale) by revealing that this genetic elixir could be part of Princess Kate’s daily routine.

Nutrition experts BarBend said: “The princess (can) mix up her own antioxidant-packed smoothies, blending kale, spirulina, matcha, spinach, rosemary and blueberries together in a delicious blend, helping her maintain a glow natural and healthy skin”.

The recipe is simple, but contains some amazing ingredients that you can find in a supermarket or health store.

The ingredients of the shake are the following:

Kale
spinach
romaine lettuce
Cranberries
Spirulina powder (a pinch)
Matcha powder (small spoon)

When making the smoothie, I found it best to cut the ingredients and add the amounts according to your personal preference.

I prefer sweet smoothies with lots of fruit, so I have to admit I was hesitant about the heavy combination of vegetables in the drink.

I chopped up the kale, spinach and lettuce and also decided to put an extra handful of blueberries in the blender for extra sweetness.

After a quick blitz, I added some spirulina and matcha powder, shot again, and poured the contents into a glass. It really was that simple.

If the consistency is too thick, you can add water or yogurt to the smoothie and blend again, depending on your personal preference.

For those unfamiliar with spirulina, it is a blue-green algae that is packed with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and protein. It has a long history as a superfood. Health websites advise that it can also help control inflammation, blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

Matcha powder is finely ground and made from Japanese green tea leaves. It is rich in antioxidants and vitamins and is commonly used in Japan to make matcha tea, but it is also used in baking and cooking.

Many other food enthusiasts who tried the same smoothie and shared their recipes commented that the end result of the smoothie looked like pond water, and I totally agree.

I tried the drink first and found it to be extremely stringy, so I ended up straining the mixture which eventually formulated a thick, smooth, powerful, yet punchy smoothie.

For those who aren’t too keen on veggie smoothies due to the intense flavors, I would recommend making a small amount of the smoothie and taking it as a “vitamin” every morning, to give your diet a healthy boost.

Before describing the smoothie, former royal nutritionist Jennifer Hanway told HELLO! Magazine: “Kate has a ton of antioxidants in there, a ton of vitamins and minerals, and a ton of fiber, which make for an overall health powerhouse.

“Everything from kale to leafy greens is a great source of nutrients. It would also incorporate high-quality protein and healthy fats, which would round out this smoothie into a very balanced breakfast.”

If you thought being a princess was all caviar and champagne, think again! After following the recipe, I think Kate’s choice to drink this veggie smoothie is a testament to how real it is.
