Conor McGregor reveals surprise date and opponent for UFC return

Conor McGregor just dropped a bombshell of a news update regarding his UFC return.

The former two-division UFC champion is currently overseas promoting BKFC’s debut in Marbella, Spain and has been making headlines all week, but none bigger than this as McGregor claims he’s ready to walk back into the Octagon early next year.

Forced out of his summer clash with Michael Chandler due to injury, McGregor is targeting a February return, moving on from his original opponent Chandler.

“February 1, Saudi Arabia,” McGregor said Donagh Corby of Bloody Elbow after BKFC Spain on Saturday.

When asked who he will fight next, McGregor responded with UFC lightweight contender Dan Hooker.

McGregor’s return announcement appears to be news to Hooker, as “Hangman” sparked his own comeback moments earlier.

“I have an opponent early next year that I’m focused on,” Hooker said Elbow of blood before McGregor’s comments. “(McGregor is) just a busy man. To come here and see all the things that happen to him, if I had that much business and that much money, I don’t think you’d catch me anywhere near a cage. for the rest of my days”.

Dan Hooker recently became an option for McGregor following his win over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC 305, which returned the fan favorite fighter to the lightweight Top 5.

Flying across the world to Spain to corner his friend, Hooker recently told Fox Sports Australia that he would try to have a conversation with McGregor about a possible fight, one we could see next February.

As for Michael Chandler, the former Bellator champion will not meet McGregor in his next outing, but old foe Charles Oliveira in the co-main event of UFC 309 on November 16. Win, lose or draw, we’ll see if their paths cross in 2025.
