Police arrest 15 people, seize $15,000 and 350g of fentanyl

(FOX40.COM) – Several Northern California law enforcement agencies worked together to arrest 15 people accused of selling fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in the area.

On November 1-2, the Folsom Police Department conducted an undercover operation called “Folsom Blues” to catch suspected drug dealers. Law enforcement officials said they used marketplaces and social media apps to arrange “narcotics transactions.” Those who showed up at a meeting place to sell drugs were arrested.

Other law enforcement agencies participating in “Folsom Blues” included the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office, Citrus Heights Police Department, Sacramento County Probation, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, Placer County Sheriff’s Office , Placer Probation, Roseville Police. Department, Placer County District Attorney’s Office, California Highway Patrol and Homeland Security Investigations.

The operation resulted in 15 arrests and the seizure of more than $15,000 in cash, hundreds of pills and other illegal drugs such as cocaine and methamphetamines, according to FPD. Detectives also recovered nearly 350 grams of fentanyl, “enough to kill the entire population of Folsom twice over.”

FPD said all those arrested received the Watson Notice, which formally warned alleged drug dealers about the dangers of fentanyl and informed them they could be charged with murder if they sold someone fentanyl-laced drugs and that person died as a result.

Some arrestees remain in custody, however, FPD said most have been released on bail or recognizance.
