Akron, 25-year-old shot, killed ‘wasn’t intended target,’ detectives say

AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) – Detectives believe a 25-year-old Akron man killed in October was shot unintentionally.

On Oct. 25, Akron police were called to an apartment in the 1100 block of Keys Place just before 10:30 p.m. for a shooting.

Officers arrived to find Neiko Swesey, 25, suffering from a gunshot wound and pronounced dead at the scene.

On Monday, Akron police said there was evidence suggesting an unknown suspect was shooting outside the apartment building when one of the stray rounds appeared to have gone through a wall or window and struck Swesey.

Akron police arrested a woman on Oct. 25 for allegedly interfering with medical personnel and first responders.
